Humboldt District Hospital Foundation (HDHF) has started a unique event to benefit the hospital at Humboldt District Health Complex as well as other community health centres.

Saskatchewan Roughriders mascot Gainer the “Golfer” whoops it up during the innaugural Health Care Charity Scramble at McNab Regional Park Golf Course June 11, 2011. Proceeds from the event benefit both the Humboldt District Health Complex and the Watson Community Health Centre.

“It’s truly about working together to provide exceptional health care close to home,” says Lorrie Bunko, Executive Director of HDHF.

On Saturday, June 11, the HDHF held its first annual Friends “Fore” Health Care Charity Scramble in Watson. The proceeds from this golf tournament were shared equally between the HDHF and the Watson Community Health Centre in order to benefit both facilities with their equipment needs.
“The committee we worked with in Watson was great and the people there are really passionate about their health centre,” adds Bunko.

More than 30 people participated in the 18-hole scramble at McNab Regional Park Golf Course in Watson, including Saskatchewan Roughriders mascot Gainer the Gopher.

The HDHF plans to partner with another community near Humboldt next year to share in the event and its proceeds. Bunko says the foundation will hold a draw to determine which community will be next.
