As the year draws to a close, I would like to extend best wishes to you for a happy holiday and health and happiness in the year ahead. Thank you to all Saskatoon Health Region staff, physicians and volunteers who demonstrate every day your commitment to our vision of healthiest people, healthiest communities, exceptional service.

Our success is measured each day by thousands of individuals from across the province who experience what we do to provide Better Care, promote Better Health of our communities, ensure Better Value for the resources invested in health care, and foster Better Teams.

This year we have seen many changes. We have been leaders in adopting the new provincial lean management system. Although we have always been committed to continuously improving the quality and safety of our care and services, we have now adopted a more focused and disciplined approach which involves many new terms, tools and improvement methods. Across the Region, we are seeing these in action, through visibility walls and wall walks, safety huddles, gemba walks, Rapid Process Improvement Workshops (RPIWs) and other lean-based approaches that are helping us transform our care and services.

I hope that over the holidays, you take a few moments to reflect on and celebrate the progress we have made together. Whether you celebrate Christmas or have other faith and family traditions, I hope that you will have some time to relax, recharge and enjoy family and friends.

This will be a special Christmas for me and my family. My husband Art and I will join his 94-year-old mother and other family members in Kingston, Ontario. This year we will be joined by our first grandchild, darling seven month old Brooklyn. It will be wonderful to celebrate with four generations of family together.

As the New Year approaches, I look forward to working with and for you all. Together we will continue to improve our care and services and to make Saskatoon Health Region a community where we are proud to work and
feel valued.

Best wishes to you and your families.
