Patients, families, visitors, staff and physicians at Royal University Hospital will soon be hearing noise associated to work underway to build a new parkade entrance and walkway into the Main Floor Mall at Royal University Hospital. A portion of RUH’s exterior is being removed as part of this construction. The majority of work is occurring outside the hospital, but in an area adjacent to the adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Coronary Care Unit (CCU) on the ground floor and the Pediatric Outpatient Clinic on the main floor. These areas will be the most affected by noise and slight vibrations. It is also expected that the noise will be heard throughout parts of the 1978 building. Hours of noisy work have been restricted to 4pm to 8pm and potentially weekends in order to minimize the disruption. CHS-connector image 2

This new entrance and walkway will replace the existing Cameco Skywalk. The Skywalk must be removed as it is located where the new maternal and children’s hospital will be built. The new entrance and walkway will be completed by late summer 2013. It is the first of two planned for Royal University Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan. The second entrance will be built during the new hospital’s construction, scheduled to start in early 2014. CHS-Location Map of CHS and NEw Entrance
