Leslie and Irene Dubé, long-time supporters of health care, education, religion and poverty relief, have received the 2013 Award for Outstanding Philanthropist, given by the Association of Fundraising Professionals as the organization’s top philanthropy honour.

The award recognizes an individual with a proven record of exceptional generosity who, through direct financial support, demonstrates outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and whose generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles on a community, national and/or international level.

In 1993, the Dubés froze their estate, deciding at that point to focus on philanthropy and donate money accumulated from their business interests to the important causes they supported. Over the past decade, they have contributed more than $30 million to a number of important programs and initiatives including four of Saskatoon Health Region’s hospital foundations. The Dubés are pictured here with the CEOs of those foundations, (left to right) Steve Shannon, Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation; Brynn Boback-Lane, Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan; Irene Dubé; Leslie Dubé; Arla Gustafson, Royal University Hospital Foundation; Bruce Acton, St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation.
