Over the past 30 years, medical oxygen usage has increased by 500 per cent at St. Paul’s Hospital. Nov_13_SPHOxygenSystemSo the arrival of a new, giant oxygen tank on October 5 was welcome. The new system quadruples capacity. The new system’s reserve tank alone, (the small one in the photo), is as large as the hospital’s old tank. The new main tank, suspended from the crane, is four times the size of its reserve. The new system will be fully connected on November 13. The connection process is designed to maintain constant oxygen flow and pressure to ensure patient safety and comfort.
