Allison Eichorst, Sheryl Korte and Angie Tuchscherer really put their feet into it! The three are champions in Saskatoon Health Region’s Healthy Workplace Champion Network. They recently initiated a walking program at Humboldt District Health Complex in October.

Thirty three people, including a patient, participated in the “Walking Derby at 12:30” throughout the month. Together they walked a total of 138.5 blocks, equivalent to 83.1km. One participant sometimes walked twice a day and alone walked 33 blocks. Everyone who walked expressed how much better they felt in the afternoons. Even though they started the program during Healthy Workplace Month in October, these champions are planning to start the walking club again in the spring when the snow is gone.
