As our world becomes more data dependent, and privacy becomes more of a concern, it seems only fitting to recognize Data Privacy Day.

Data Privacy Day is an international event that occurs every January 28.  Its purpose is to raise awareness and promote privacy and data protection best practices.

RR-2015-01-21-Data-PrivacySaskatoon Health Region’s Privacy and Access Office will be setting up display tables at all three of Saskatoon Health Region’s acute care sites on January 28.  Tables will be located in the atrium at Saskatoon City Hospital, by the fireplace in the mall at Royal University Hospital, and by the cafeteria entrance at St. Paul’s Hospital.

The purpose of this event is to create awareness surrounding the Electronic Health Record and upcoming changes to the Health Information Protection Act (HIPA) that will be proclaimed in the spring of 2015.

The Privacy and Access team will be available at the tables from 11a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to answer any burning privacy questions you may have.  There will be a draw held at the end of the day and some giveaways provided as well.  All staff members are encouraged to come and visit the booth and meet the members of the Privacy and Access Team.
