From September through December, Saskatoon Health Region is dedicating working on breakthrough changes that will make our system safer. We’re calling it Safer Every Day.

Six Safer Every Day teams have been set up to address different areas of focus.

The Clinical Process Improvement team is being led by Dr. Mark James, Department Head Adult Critical Care, and Janet Harding.

This team’s initial mandate is to test a new model of clinical process improvement, involving multiple departments and professions. Their focus is on early recognition and treatment of sepsis in patients already admitted to the hospital.

The work of each team is likely to evolve as we move further into the 90 days of action on this cycle of improvements. If you would like to contribute to this team’s efforts, please contact Dr. Mark James or Janet Harding to find out how you can get involved.

The other five initial areas of focus include Leadership and Management for Safety, Team Communication and Performance, Psychological Safety and Staff Support, Building Capacity for Safety and Quality Improvement, and Mortality Review.
