Did you know that when you or your loved ones are assessed in the emergency room or admitted to a hospital unit, you are likely to be seen by at least one of the more than 400 medical resident doctors in Saskatchewan?

Medical residents are doctors who work under supervision of physicians as they train for an additional two to six years in their specialty of choice. They assess patients, write prescriptions, perform procedures, and work with the rest of the healthcare team to make treatment decisions. They also provide a large amount of the around-the-clock hospital and on-call coverage for our hospitals. Completing a Residency training program is a requirement to be licensed to practice medicine in our province.

So, thank-you to all our residents for providing patient first care in Saskatoon Health Region. You are a valuable part of our team!
