Seven teams of staff members from Wynyard Integrated Facility competed in a very special games in Wynyard in early June.

Things might have been frosty and covered with several inches of fresh snow, but there was a warm Christmas spirit inside the Wynyard Civic Centre on December 10, while the sixth annual Festival of Wreaths auction was going on.

An annual fundraiser by the Wynyard Hospital Auxiliary, the funds raised by the Festival go towards purchasing equipment for the local hospital. Over the course of five previous festivals, the community of Wynyard and the surrounding area had come together to raise nearly $70,000. Read the rest of this entry »

You need help, so you call for an ambulance – not to get you to the hospital, but so the paramedics can deliver the care you need.

This innovative concept is called Community Paramedicine and has recently been introduced to Saskatoon. But it’s not a new concept for some of Saskatoon Health Region’s rural communities, who have been  partnering with local emergency services to support communities in health promotion and treatment for a few years now. It was all hands on deck at Wadena Hospital on Friday, March 13, as staff dealt with the aftermath of a schoolbus rollover which occurred near Elfros that morning.

Luckily, only minor injuries were reported among the 19 students, two chaperones and driver who were on board the bus when it lost control due to road conditions, entered a snowy ditch and tipped onto its passenger side on Highway 35 one kilometre south of Elfros.  Read the rest of this entry »
